Applications
Sight glass flow indicators provide direct visual confirmation of media flow, color, and clarity in process piping. They are installed on pump discharge lines, filter housings, heat exchanger circuits, cooling water returns, and chemical dosing skids where operators need immediate visual feedback without relying solely on instrumentation. Body materials in SS304 or SS316 handle pressures up to 25 bar depending on size and design.
Typical applications include verifying coolant flow on machine tool spindles, checking filter breakthrough in water treatment, observing condensate return in steam systems, and confirming product color in food and beverage processing. Flapper or ball internal designs indicate flow direction; clear borosilicate windows resist thermal shock up to 200°C.
Connection options include threaded NPT, flanged RF, and butt-weld ends to integrate with existing piping. They are widely used in pharmaceutical CIP return loops, oil and gas chemical injection verification, pulp and paper stock flow observation, and marine engine cooling water monitoring. Custom designs per customer drawing are available.
Quality Assurance & Certification
Each sight glass is assembled and pressure-tested before shipment. The borosilicate glass window is rated for thermal shock and pressure per design calculations. Body castings or forgings are supplied with EN 10204 3.1 material certificates for stainless steel components. Glass compatibility with process media must be confirmed at order time.
Hydrostatic shell testing is performed at 1.5 times the rated pressure on each unit, with a documented pressure hold. Window sealing is verified under the same test. Threaded ends are gauged; flanged units are dimensionally checked per ASME B16.5. Third-party inspection by SGS or BV can be arranged.
Each sight glass is wrapped in foam and packed in a sturdy carton or wooden crate to protect the glass windows. Threaded ends are capped; flanged faces are protected. The package includes a test certificate, operating instructions, and a warning label specifying pressure and temperature limits.
